I feel your pain. Nearly 6 months since I finished work and have managed to declutter one chest of drawers. I have also increased my wool collection and knitting projects and now have an assortment of toys, books and clothes for when the grand babies visit.
Now look, the grandchild thing is my excuse for not getting rid of all the books and teddies and that huge crate of lego. (I told you they'd come in useful one day and now after 30 years they have). DON'T ENCOURAGE ME.
Poor you. I’m coming! I love a declutter - I think it comes from living in small places. But I do understand it’s emotional.
Have you read @lickedspoon’s ‘Declutter’ book? Very sensible, like her. It speaks to me.
I have a Vinted habit now. I buy my clothes there and successfully sell my no longer needed stuff. The five pounds do add up, so it gives a sense of achievement and I feel part of the circular economy. x
Yes I most definitely do have Debora's book! The phrase 'coffee-cup zone' is used frequently in this house, especially in reference to the top of the tall-boy on the landing where things which have been helpfully taken upstairs are dumped without being put away. (I'm not saying who does this, but there are only two of us here and it isn't me).
I take photos of things that I find hard to move on. The memory link is preserved without taking up space. Might help with some items.
That's a very good idea. Thank you.

Thank you for this Jane, I loved reading it (and it made me feel a bit better about my own messy room(s) too!)
Sending a solidarity hug (( ))
I secretly hope that Stacey Solomen will come and visit my house - I really love her warm and down to earth approach.
She's just lovely, isn't she?
