Something for the weekend
Places to go and things to see
Are you anywhere near York this weekend? If so it would be lovely to see you at the York Printmakers Print Fair.
25 of us will be there with our work ready to chat to you about what we do, or just leave you to browse in peace if that is more your thing. Entry is free, there will be a tea and coffee wagon outside and, unusually for York, there is free parking. All this and the rather beautiful surroundings of York Cemetery (a haven for wildlife). What more could you want?
York Cemetery Chapel and Harriet Room, Cemetery Road, York, YO10 5AJ
20th - 21st September
10am - 5pm
Also this week
Heritage Open Days are currently happening across the UK until Sunday 21st September. You can find out what is happening near you by clicking here.
The medieval townhouse where I volunteer as a room guide, the beautiful Barley Hall, will be open FREE OF CHARGE on Sunday, and not only that but will have a special exhibition with expert-led tours: ‘From Dig to Display: Unearthing York’s Past’.
For more information click here.
I sadly won’t be able to be there as I will be at the Print Fair, but if you can go I’m sure you will see why I love Barley Hall so much.
Shop closure
By the way, as usual when I am attending a real life event, my online shop will be closed for the duration to avoid the mishap of selling the same thing twice. The shutters will come down on Friday morning and will be re-opened on Monday morning.
Coming next month
I’m delighted to say that my work will be available in York’s newest (I think it is - don’t quote me) gallery for a couple of months leading up to Christmas. If you know York you will probably remember the Blossom Street Gallery, right next to the city walls; it is now under new ownership with a new name, new look and new vibe. Do pop in and say hello to Jenny in what is now No. 2 Blossom Street.
Meanwhile back in the studio, I’m two layers and three colours into a new reduction linoprint. Pics and an update in my next letter.
Thanks as always for reading, and if you can make it to the fair do say hello.
Jane
